History of Bunkley and Jones

 

Bunkley & Jones Insurance was founded in November of 1931, by F.H. Bunkley & L.D. Jones in Seymour, Texas.  These two partners were associated together in the banking and insurance business for over 50 years.  Jack Jones, L.D. Jones’ son, became a partner in January of 1953.  

After graduating from Baylor University in 1967, Mike Jurecek went to work for Travelers Insurance Company.

Mr. Jurecek called on Bunkley & Jones as a representative for Travelers, where he was an underwriter.  Through this relationship, in 1973 Jack Jones sold half of the business he had acquired from the founding partners to Mr. Jurecek.  Mike Jurecek was the owner until his unexpected death in March of 2001.   

At that time his son-in-law, Marty Bufkin purchased the business from Connie Jurecek.  Marty was previously in a family owned farming and ranching business.  Marty and his wife Nicole have two girls, Malorie and McKenna.  Nicole is a math teacher in Seymour where they make their home.

 Currently the agency has three experienced Customer Service Representatives.  Sandra Sessions has been with Bunkley & Jones for 37 years.   Pat Mooney has been with the company for 30 years.  In June 2002 Sheri Morgan came to work for the agency from Irving.  Bunkley and Jones has recently expanded, opening an office in Graham, Texas. 

The business was started on honesty, integrity and idea of serving the public with a product needed by all built to be handled on an individual basis.  Today we strive to continue this tradition in serving our customers in Seymour, Graham and the surrounding areas.
